Consultation

Everyday, I am asked a question of some sort by prospective and ongoing clients regarding this complicated process of hiring a household employee. There are many things that you need to know when beginning this voyage.

My book entitled “Help! How to Find Hire Train and Maintain Your Household Help” will take you through this process step by step. However, there will be particular situations in your home with your employee that come up and need solving. I have nearly 20 years of experience in this field. I have helped thousands of people with their household needs and walked them through on the job questions. Consider the following examples:

Q – My housekeeper has been dining with us since she started working here. My husband however has decided that he prefers that we sit down as a family so that we can discuss some private issues that perhaps should only be discussed among family members. How do we suddenly tell our employee that we want her to eat separately?

Q – We are traveling a lot and do not know what to do with our employee when we are out of town. Do we need to pay her for the time we are not here if we do not need her services?

Q – My housekeeper needs to leave for Mexico due to a dying relative. She wants 4 weeks off. She has 2 weeks vacation coming to her a month from now. Do I keep her job open or move on with a new employee?

Q – There has been some money missing from our dresser. We cannot be sure of which of our employees it is, but we feel strongly that one of them is stealing. Do we fire them all? How should we approach the subject?

Q – My child has been telling me that the nanny gives him candy. This is something I have clearly told her is forbidden. When I asked her about this, she denies it. My child is only 3. Who should I believe?

Q – My housekeeper keeps coming late to work. I have also been coming late home from work. I figured that the time averages out. She, however, is complaining that she should be paid for the extra time she works. Can I deduct her pay for being late? If I am late 10 minutes do I need to pay her for that?

In addition, I am bilingual in Spanish and English that is very helpful to those who have Hispanic help. There are many things said that get lost in the translation.

Take advantage of this invaluable consultation service I am offering for FREE when you buy my book. I can save you oodles of time and money while providing tremendous peace of mind with sound and experienced advice.

My consultation fee is normally $250 for a 2 hour
session that includes discussing the following items:

  • Discussion of household staff and problems.
  • Communication and translation in Spanish/English.
  • Reorganization of the duties and functions of household staff.
  • A personalized household manual.
